8 July 2008 Tuesday Bible study.

Heb 10:23-25, 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. KJV

For a moment, let us think back to when Jesus Christ was asked to give an outline for prayer: and if you will recall, He started it out by saying, “Our Father””. People often forget that salvation is a gift, and that there is a proper way for that gift to be used, in accordance with the instructions that the Father has given us, as well as in partnership with Him.

Paul in Galatians tells us that the “will of God” is that Jesus Christ gave Himself for our sins, that one might accept that forgiveness, and that through the power of Christ within us, that we would be delivered from the evil of this present world. So for one to hold fast the profession of “our” faith, means that they have to be in agreement with God, and allow His purpose and plan to operate within their life.

Let us for a moment recall what exactly faith is:  Faith, one's ability [facility, aptitude, capacity, capability, gift] to hear, believe and then act upon (live) that which God asks of them, is developed or nurtured to maturity by hearing the Word delivered from the mouth of God, by Christ Jesus His Son to us, for the spiritual sustenance that one needs to maintain their proper relationship with God as their Father, brought alive in our life by His Spirit.

How did Jesus Christ accomplish this within His life? He only spoke the things that He heard the Father speak, and only did those things which He saw the Father do, and thus stayed within the good and perfect and acceptable will of God. For He knew that He is faithful who promised!

Jesus Christ asked us to come and follow Him. Are you willing to do that this day?
