v22n37
Where to start, or where to begin, this is a very hard thing
to figure out. The journey to and from Australia was very blessed; however,
the length of the flight from La to Sydney, and Sydney to LA is quite long,
and enough to test most peoples patience, as well as perseverance. It was
14 plus hours from La to Sydney, and 13 plus hours on the return. This
does give one ample time for prayer and meditation, the key is learning
to relax on the plane.
The fifteen day that we spent there doing Father’s work went very well, as well as quite exciting. It is always an awesome thing to watch Father work, the key is keeping oneself out of the way. It is when we allow God to be God, and we quit trying to be the savior, that God is able to work. It is then that one is able to allow Him to use us as He sees best. (How often is it that we hinder God, or get in His way, and then think that it is God the one that is not responding?)
It was such a blessing to see Steph, Bruce and the children, as well as to help them initiate the new house. The dwelling place that Father has blessed them with is really neat. (It is always neat to go someplace, and see the results of prayer.) Even though they are in a new housing development, no one is able to build behind them, and thus they have an open view of the national forest behind them, which allows the cool ocean breezes to hit them each day. (Plus, they are able to see kangaroo’s out the dining room window, which Helen utilized each day.)
I am still always amazed how the Word of God is able to bridge all cultural and language barriers. (Again, this is as long as we will stay out of the way. That and not trying to figure it out for Father, which one often has the tendency to try to do.) (Had thought that maybe we should have rented a vehicle while we were there, but as I said, that was my thinking.) The end result of not renting a vehicle, was that we had to take two vehicles everyplace, which meant that me and Bruce had to ride together, which of course meant that we would talk and share the Word. And one must always remember, that it is God’s Word that cannot return void. (Isa 55:11)
If one will remain faithful to His Word, it is amazing the things that Father can do through us, again the key is staying out of the way. Don’t try to add to it, or take away from it, but rather allowing God to do it His way. I know for myself, I thought one of the main purposes for Father sending us over there, was to encourage and build Steph up in the Word, so that she would be able to continue steadfast in her life and profession of faith, being a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. In being obedient to that which Father had asked of us, we were able to behold Father’s love in a whole new way when we left there. (And here I thought that are journey there was several years late, when it was at Father’s perfect time, sure joyful that Father does not listen to my counsel.)
Well we were there, was also asked to speak at Sean’s school that he attends there, at the lunch hour prayer meeting that the students hold there. Father did have me give them a short message on prayer, and it power and effects, and was surprised by the response from the young adults. It always encourages me, when one sees people that want to hear and receive more of the blessings that God has for them, and learn how to walk further in them. (Sean did not ask as many questions after the first couple of days there, as he said he did not like the three hour answers.)
We were also able to share some cooking recipes with Steph and Bruce. And of course, we did fix her tacos while we were there. Also showed her how to use the broiler on her oven, but was not able to convince her not to eat burnt offerings.
The daily excursions in the Word, is always the highlight of anything we do for Father, and this journey was no exception. The thing was, that as usual, Father did it His way, which was totally different from any way He had done it before, so, that meant listening attentively to all that He had to say. It was a very blessed and precious time in the Word!
Needless to say, Steph and Bruce did not want us to leave, and tried to talk us into filing for immigration status. However, still have to be about Father’s business, so we had to return to the states for now. However, we will be returning there next year (probably around late September) for three weeks. And in the present, need to start getting ready for our next journey to Minnesota and South Carolina the end of January, and into February of 2001.
Have a very blessed and prosperous day in Christ.
That you may know Him,
In the service of Jesus Christ.
