Soul Survivor!

V22 n39

In today’s world, most everyone is looking for a new adventure. Many are looking for a way to get rich quick. This is shown quite clearly by the new television shows that have sprung up over the last few years. Television shows such as “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” or “Survivor”  have captured the peoples imaginations. People are always looking for some new adventure to entertain them; or a way to get rich quick.

1 Timothy 6:17-19, 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. KJV

The world looks up to these types of people, that are ingenious or wise in the ways of this present evil world, or of those that are able to amass and accumulate the wealth of this world. (There are even some churches or sects that are based in and upon this principle {Pyramid schemes at best}. This amazes me, as they would have not thought much of Jesus Christ or Paul the apostle, as neither had much according to theirs or the worlds standards.) Man, for the most part, likes any and all attention that he can get.

Matthew 6:6, But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. KJV

God’s way of rewarding people, is by blessing the believer with ALL spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. (Eph 1:3) These blessings are available to any that have become that new creation in Christ, and then seek God with all of their heart, in accordance with the guidelines spelled out clearly within His Word. (Ps. 119:2-3). As one grows in His Word, and a working knowledge of it, (being one who lives the Word, not one that only talks about it), the blessings of God will overtake them; since their whole purpose is in pleasing Him, and not with trying to impress their fellow man.

In the television show “Survivor”, people found ways to live and exist, by seeing, observing, procuring and then using things, that most people in the world would miss or ignore, as it did not suit their tastes or physical appetites. Just as believers in Jesus Christ will seek God with all of their heart, and seek to find and utilize all those things that are hid within His Word, that the casual or carnal Christian will read or pass right by. To the milk or carnal Christian, these things or mysteries of God remain concealed or hidden to them.

Romans 10:2-3, 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. KJV

Many people have a zeal for God, but often it is based in and upon man’s traditions and doctrines, rather then in and upon the Word of God. It is only by knowing who Christ is, that the cover or veil of the flesh over the eyes can be removed. Yes, many have a zeal for God, however, it is often based in and upon a worldly wisdom and knowledge, rather then obtaining the wisdom and knowledge that can only come by and through Christ. (1Cor 1:24).

They ignore God’s righteousness (Christ) and go about to establish their own criteria and guidelines, again based in and upon that which they have heard others say. Have they forgotten, that we are supposed to submit ourselves to God, rather then to man? (James 4:7). Often times we will hear people say, “but who are you accountable to?” They are not able to see or understand, that by being accountable to man, it is easy to hide and conceal many things from them (their fellow man). However, with God, what is there that you can hide or conceal from Him? If one is truly serving Him, what is there that He does not know about you? Being accountable to anyone but God, is going about to establish one’s own network of righteousness. Do you really think that this will be acceptable to God? After all, doesn’t the Bible say, that we are to work out our own salvation, with reverence and respect to and for God? When one studies the Word, who’s approval is it that you are seeking?

2 Corinthians 4:3-6, 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. KJV

Those that are of the faith, those that are that new creation in Christ, will seek Father to have those things hidden within the Word, to be revealed to them by His Spirit. (Ask and salvation is given, seek and you will find the mystery). They will no longer allow the god of this world to steal from them. The vail of the flesh has been removed: they no longer look to any man after the flesh, but rather seek to maintain their relationship with Father, by and through Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:7, But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: KJV   (read 1Cor 2:7-13)

While man applauds the ingenuity of the flesh, God rewards those who diligently seek Him. God seeks those that will worship Him in spirit and in truth. After all, it is supposed to be the simplicity of the gospel of Christ; we are to come to Him as a child.

Training a child in the way they should go: Jesus Christ is that strait and narrow path or way, which is established in and on of the truth of His Word, which will lead one who remains faithful to Him, into eternal life. Learning to become a survivor by, through, and in His Word. This can only can come about as one will abide in Him each and every day. Studying for Father’s approval in all that one says and does, and thus you will be that workman that will not be ashamed when you stand before Him.

Growing up into Him in all things, so that one is no longer dependent on others feeding them the milk of the Word, rather, to someone who has learned to search out and partake of the meat of the Word, and developing His ability within them, so that they will be able to by His Spirit, discern between good and evil. (Heb 5:9-14).

After all, for yourself, only you can prevent eternal fires!

That you may know Him,
In the service of Jesus Christ.
