Priority?

V23 n21

Matt 6:33 But make His Kingdom and righteousness your chief aim, and then these things shall all be given you in addition. 34 Do not be over-anxious, therefore, about to-morrow, for to-morrow will bring its own cares. Enough for each day are its own troubles. (Weymouth translation).

Today, what is it that you are aiming for? What is the prize that you are striving to obtain? How many pay raises do you think it would take to impress Father? How many extra curricular activities will it take to get in God’s grace? One has many ideas or notions of what one “thinks” that they should be doing or saying this day; yet, are these thoughts and actions, things that would be pleasing to Father? What exactly is it, that is at the top of your priority list this day?

Paul told the Corinthians to be followers of him, in the same manner in which he followed the example of Christ. Is this the example that you have been setting this day? Is this the example that those around you will see and observe in your life? Is this the type of example that you will set on a moment by moment basis, or, just when you think that others are watching? If not; what kind of excuse do you think that there is, that will justify your actions before Father?

Is the kingdom of God, and His righteousness your chief aim this very moment? If not, what is it that has blinded your mind from doing that which He has asked of you?

Luke 6:46, And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? KJV

We are quick to call Him Lord, but do you do those things which He asks of you? We will read what the Word says, but often think that it only applies on Sundays, or any time that one is around other Christians. One is to be or set the example of the believer at all times, not just when it seems convenient.

Matthew 7:21-23, 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. KJV

Many claim to be doing that which He asks, however the Word is quite plain to tell us, that not everyone that claims to represent Him, is one of His. Even the devil and his workers can appear as an angel of light, so one has to know, to be sure, that that which is spoken or said, is indeed in line with His Word.

Many claim to be following the light, but, which light are they following?

Matthew 6:23-24, 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. KJV

Isaiah 5:20-23, 20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! KJV

Priority: the state of being first, in rank, in time, in place: precedence, preeminence, superiority: an order carrying authorization for its execution ahead of others.

Seeking first, the kingdom of God. This should be the first thought of each day. This should be the believers first priority, each and every moment, of each and every day. But, is this the case in your life? What exactly is it, that occupies your first thoughts of a new day?

Isaiah 55:6-9, 6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. KJV

Where does the Lord and His Word rank on your list of things “to do” this day?

People are quick to try to tell God, and others, how much they do love Him. Yet, does their lifestyle, their actions, or their language confirm this?

John 14:23, Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. KJV

If you do indeed love Him, then you will seek to obey His Word, for it is Spirit, and it is life. Pleasing Father by and through Christ Jesus should be the main priority in one’s life.

Are your priorities in the proper order? Is it really God and His kingdom that you are seeking first in your life this day?

That you may know Him,

In the service of Jesus Christ.
