A sure foundation!

V23 n27

1 Corinthians 3:11, For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. KJV

It is upon this foundation, the revelation of the Rock (1Cor 10:4-5), those to whom the Father reveals His Son, Christ (Matt 16:16-18), that He will build His church. It is this foundation by and through Christ Jesus, His church, that the gates of hell shall not prevail against.

(Many will say, “Since Jesus Christ was put to death, as were Paul and Peter, as well as many of the other disciples, how can it be said that the gates of hell shall not prevail against His church?” It is only one who knows Jesus Christ, who will know that His kingdom is not of this world. They know that Jesus Christ has indeed risen from the dead, and gone and prepared a better place for those that are His.)

Many try to build upon this foundation (Christ), with those things “that they think” will be pleasing to God. This happens, because man for the most part, has placed much of his trust and reliance in and on that which man has deemed as necessary and precious in their eyes. Yet, the Word tells us clearly that His kingdom is not of this world. Who will you believe, God or man? (Rom 3:3-4)

For a person to be a part of His kingdom, requires a new and fresh start. One must be born again by His Spirit. (John 3:3-8). It is at this moment, that one becomes a new creation in Him. (2Cor 5:16-17). At this moment, one receives a new heart, and His Spirit comes to make His abode within us. (Ezek 36:25-27, Ps 51:10, Rom 8:9, Jer 32:39-40, John 14:23). It is only with the new heart and His Spirit can the proper foundation be established and set. Many will try to build upon this foundation by their good works and fair speeches, for they have forgot, that it is by grace through faith, that a person is saved. It is not by works, achievements,  or accomplishments, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8-9, Rom 3:20, Rom 5:6-10).

Acts 4:10-12, 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. KJV

The stone, the foundation, the Rock that the builders have rejected, is what has become the cornerstone of His Church. (Note; how Luke records that which Peter spoke or proclaimed by the Spirit of God, that there is none other name under heaven given amoung men, whereby we must be saved.). It is only by and through His name, that one is able to obtain the sure foundation in the heart. (Isa 28:16, 1Peter 2:5-8, Ps 118:19-24).

Jesus Christ of Nazareth, no other name under heaven given amoung men that is able to provide deliverance, safety and rescue (salvation). (John 14:6, 1Tim 2:5) The only way to life eternal, and to knowing and fellowshipping with the only true God, is by acknowledging and accepting Jesus Christ whom He sent. (John 17:1-3) Thus why Paul tells us that every tongue (the tongue is an extension of the heart) should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. What name is it that proceeds from your lips?

Many will say or tell you that they are sure of their foundation. Just as the scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, priests and Levites also thought and assumed that they had the sure foundation from God. They had placed all of their trust and confidence in the traditions and doctrines of their fathers, and not only ignored Father’s plan of salvation, but also the very Lamb of God who stood in front of them. How sure are you of that which your foundation is built in and upon? Is it based in and on the traditions that you have learned? Is it based upon that which someone else has told you?

Colossians 2:8, Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. KJV

People often overlook how Paul the apostle received the truth. They forget that his life prior to conversion was based in and upon the Law, as well as the traditions and doctrines of man. Yet, Paul tells us clearly, that that which he received was not after man. He neither received it from man, nor was he taught it by man. Rather, Paul is clear to tells us that Jesus Christ was revealed to him by the Spirit of God. Is God a respecter of persons? No! He is not! What few realize, is that if God revealed it to Paul, then God will also reveal His Son to you. God will reveal His Son to anyone that will sincerely seek Him. Do you want man’s opinions? Or, the truth of God’s Word? The choice is yours!

Ephesians 1:17-23, 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. KJV

How sure are you of your foundation? What is it that God has revealed to you?

 That you may know Him,

In the service of Jesus Christ.
